Grieg's Nocturne
Peer Gynt

Wedding Day is the theme from a longer piece by Edvard Grieg, called 'Wedding Day at Troldhaugen1'. This in turn is included as number 6 in Book 8 of his Lyric Pieces, Opus 65, as a piano piece in 1896. It is beloved of pianists. Later he orchestrated it.

The whole of this lovely music is well worth a trip to your local library to borrow their disc or to your concert hall to hear a live performance. For the moment, though, we hope you will enjoy our arrangement and hum along, or dance with Edvard's masterpiece . . .

What about listening to Edvard's wonderful song   To Spring  . . .?

Footnote 1:  Grieg's villa, built in 1885, at Bergen. On his wife Nina's suggestion he called it Troldhaugen ('The Hill of the Trolls'). Return to story.
