Anitra's Dance
Solveig's Song

In the Hall of the Mountain King is the introduction to Act 2, Scene 6 of Peer Gynt, set in the hall of the Mountain King. The King's subjects, the trolls, are clamouring for Peer's blood for daring to fall in love with a troll maiden. These trolls are pretty fearsome creatures.

Originally the piece included a chorus, which incorporated cries of 'slay him'. The excitement becomes intense as the music gathers pace. Does he escape from this tense situation? Well, you must see the play to appreciate the fine details!

And next witness Edvard's   Anitra's Dance . . .?
