Steal Away

Steal Away1 must be one of the original Spirituals. It is certainly one of the favourites in today's concert repertoire. Once again we have chosen to base our MusicSmiles' arrangement largely on H T Burleigh's wonderful solo and piano arrangement2 of the traditional song.

Steal Away
(1 crotchet & 4 bar intro)

Steal away, steal away, steal away to Jesus!
Steal away, steal away home,
I ain't got long to stay here!

My Lord, calls me,
He calls me by the thunder;
The trumpet sounds with-in-a my soul . . .
I ain't got long to stay here!

Steal away, steal away, steal away to Jesus!
Steal away, steal away home,
I ain't got long to stay here!

Green trees are bending,
Poor sinner stands a-trembling;
The trumpet sounds with-in-a my soul . . .
I ain't got  long to stay here!

Steal away, steal away, steal away to Jesus!
Steal away, steal away home,
I ain't got long to stay here!

Like to hear (sing) it again?
