Serenade

Serenade has meant several things in musical history. Among these are: evening music, particularly open air evening music (such as in Mozart's Don Giovanni). Other meanings included 17th century instrumental developments of divertimenti - mainly for outdoors. Mozart's Eine kleine Nachtmusik (A Little Night Music) is a magnificent example. Works of this magnitude are suites approaching symphonies. Beethoven's chamber music serenades were masterpieces which inspired others like Brahms, Dvorák, Tchaikovsky, Elgar and Richard Strauss. But enough of these technicalities. Arthur Sullivan also composed a serenade (with a difference) in the Show Cox and Box.

Schubert's Serenade is a beautiful miniature example of the orchestral art. Feel free to hum and join in our interpretation of the tune if you wish - it's very hummable! Or just rest back and let Franz  serenade you while you dream . . .!
