Mktown1.JPG (51930 bytes)View across the medieval market square towards the parish church.

Mktown2.JPG (65746 bytes)Just off the market place are some very attractive ancient streets. This one - Chain Lane - is a popular shopping area.

Mktown3.JPG (43281 bytes)Another nook leading into the Market Place. Some very fashionable shops are attached to a Middle Ages inn called The Old White Hart.

Mrktown6.JPG (77327 bytes)The whole town, steeped in history, is dotted with ancient buildings like the Judge's House shown here.

Mrktown4.JPG (91614 bytes)The the near-cathedral-like Early English church of St Mary Magdalene, like so much in Market Town, is very historic and built largely from profits from the wool trade in the Middle Ages.

Mrktown5.JPG (55732 bytes)One of the great Norman Prince Bishops built Market Town Castle (now an ancient ruin) to defend his territory from marauding hordes.

Mktown7.JPG (73270 bytes)Peer into areas from the market place to see its delights. This one is called Queen's Head Court.

Would you like to see something of a nearby Cathedral City . . .?
