This wonderful little Russian Dance was composed in 1878 as part of a suite by Peter Tchaikovsky. Called Twelve Morceaux, Opus 40, Number 10, this rather frigid title conceals a real 1 minute 18 seconds foot-tapper! Don't you agree?

Feel free to join in with us and clap your hands, or dance (the original concept) to Peter's music. Scored in A minor, it has the typical Russian feel about it. Its dynamic ranges are reminiscent of other Tchaikovsky pieces, which are sometimes marked ffff, and pppppp! It certainly reflects the great music which he wrote for the ballet theatre.
