Carrie Jacobs Bond was born Carrie Jacobs in Janesville, Wisconsin, in 1862. This American composer was highly admired during this period.

Among her many and varied songs, some of the most popular and lasting were: Just a-wearying For You, and The End of a Perfect Day, which sold over a million copies in its first arrangement. Carrie Jacobs died Mrs Carrie Jacobs Bond, in Glendale, California, in 1946, and her influential music has remained top of the pops ever since.

The background music to this page is her song: I Love You Truly, which is still popular at weddings and on the concert platform. Feel free to sing along with Carrie in this arrangement of her beautiful love-song . . .

I Love You Truly

I love you truly, truly dear,
Life with its sorrow,
Life with its tear,
Fades into dreams when I feel you are near,
For I love you truly, truly dear.

Ah, love, 'tis something to feel your kind hand,
Ah, yes, 'tis something by your side to stand;
Gone is the sorrow, gone doubt and fear,
For I love you truly, truly dear.

Now a note on the American military scene with John Philip Sousa  . . .
