The Worlds of Gilbert and Sullivan

Edvard Grieg's piece 'To Spring' is a lovely composition and has the added attraction of including an exciting centrepiece, which conjures up visions of a sudden squall, or storm, which are a feature of Spring in his native country of Norway. He and Arthur Sullivan were students together at  . . . but that's all for later!

More recently the tune was adapted by Robert Wright and George Forrest in their stage show 'Song of Norway', and called the 'Hymn of Betrothal'. Hope you will enjoy our arrangement.

Hymn of Betrothal

God in radiance the day has clothed.
Lo, two of his children stand in love's raiment, betrothed.
He will bless them here at the start,
Kneel and press them near to his heart.
Blessed are they from this hour,
Of all virtue a part.

God in radiance the day has clothed.
Lo, two of his children stand in love's raiment, betrothed.
Stars bear witness,
See midnight sun.
Two in wedlock soon shall be one;
Glorious day, day of rapture,
A new life has begun!

And now what about a Hymn for Lent?
