| George Grossmith was the Savoy's 'character actor' in its formative years. He was also a popular musical comedy artist and pianist in his own right and performed sketches including many of his own 600 songs! Here is a song which was in his own musical sketch 'How I discovered America'. Written and composed by George Grossmith, the score is marked: 'To be played with grace, and sung with mock gravity'. It is witty, quirky and not a little macabre! One can only imagine the stage antics and props used in his performance! We have added some bits of MusicSmiles fun into our arrangement (with apologies to George)! Please feel free to join in the summer seaside merriment with him in . . . The Baby on the Shore The
sun was shining brightly,
The
moon was slowly rising, Now, what about a summer visit to the zoo . . .?
