The Worlds of Gilbert and Sullivan

Schumann taught composition at Leipzig Conservatoire, where Arthur Sullivan later became a student. His influence on our Arthur certainly lasted beyond his own lifetime. But more of that anon . . .

Robert Schumann's Spring Song is the last tune in his 'Album for Youth' (Album für die Jugend), Book One, Opus 68 Number 18. Originally composed for young people at the piano, it has since achieved more universal appeal to young people of all ages!.

This little gem is a miniature pastoral scene - a 'water colour' in the art-form! It is a light Spring dance (what sort of dance is it - a minuet? Experts please help here). But it also has other qualities which make it very listenable! Join in , and enjoy our instrumental arrangement of Robert's lovely musical scene. Quick! before it's all over . . .

Forward with Edvard To Spring . . .
